The Art Work Of Denise Nielsen and George Worthington

The Artists

Denise Nielsen and George Worthington have been working together since 1981. They have sold and exhibited their work at many of the top craft shows throughout the northeast. Denise trained as an art teacher and received her masters of fine art degree from Pratt Institute in 1981. She also works in oils, creating large flower paintings that are blended in soft subtle colors. Her work was exhibited at the Woodstock Artist Association, Woodstock, NY, in a solo show in 1995. Her flower paintings often provide inspiration for their three dimensional pieces. George is a self-trained artist-craftsperson, whose skills encompass working in metal, wood and stone. They met while working together as professional jewelers. This background enables them to bring an attention to detail and creativity to their wood and stone sculptural pieces. The hats, shoes, purse sculptures and paintings are uniquely creative and original. Their work is sought after by collectors. With new designs added on a continuing basis. One of their special sculptural hats was published in the Fine Woodworking Design Book Seven 1996. They received the blue ribbon for "Best Sculptural Objects Award" at the Philadelphia Furniture and Furnishings Show 2001. Their work was published in Wood Magazine, May 2003. They continue to live and work creatively together as husband and wife.
